We accept cash, credit card, Eftpos and cheques for payments. We have facilities on site for online Medicare claiming if you are registered for this which means your Medicare rebate is returned to your nominated bank account automatically.

All pregnancy related consultations are billed at the Medicare Rebate amount. These can be fully claimed back through Medicare electronically at our practice or through Medicare. 

Pregnancy Management Fee :  Item number 16590 = $1500 with a rebate from Medicare of approximately $310 - $520 depending on whether you have reached the yearly safety net. This is a fee charged by obstetricians for management of a pregnancy payable after 20 weeks and reimburses the obstetrician for being on call 24/7 and the disruption to their lives this causes, as well as providing appropriate on call cover when they are not available. There is more information at The Pregnancy Management Fee. I offer a 50% discount for women who have delivered their first baby through my practice and are seeing me for a subsequent pregnancy.

Initial Consultation Gynaecology : Item number 104 = $142 with a rebate back from Medicare of $70

Review Consultation Gynaecology : Item number 105 = $75 with a rebate back from Medicare of $39

Ultrasounds at Our Practice

Any ultrasounds at the practice do not incur a charge. 

Sunnybank Women’s Diagnostic Centre or Mater Women’s Diagnostic Centre

Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound (11 to 14 weeks) : $199 (a rebate is claimable by Medicare if you are over the age of 35)

Morphology Ultrasound (18 – 20 weeks) : $200 with a rebate back from Medicare of $85

Dr Frank Carmody (Sunnybank or Wesley Hospital)

Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound : $270 for single birth, $290 for twin or more births with a rebate claimable from Medicare

Morphology Ultrasound : $290 for single birth, $330 for twin or more births with a rebate claimable from Medicare

Queensland Ultrasound for Women (Wickham Terrace, Brisbane)

Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound : $290 ($320 for twins) with a rebate claimable from Medicare of $95

Morphology Ultrasound  : $310 ($330 for twins) with a rebate claimable from Medicare of $85

Pathology

I use Healthscope Pathology who have a collection centre across the corridor from my practice. Healthscope Pathology bulk bill all patients. I can arrange a referral to a different laboratory if you would prefer.

Delivery Fees Insured Patients

With all insured patients, I do not charge any gap so there are no out of pocket fees apart from the excess on your policy for a hospital stay. 

Anaesthetic services (if required) may incur an out of pocket expense depending on the anaesthetist on call.

A paediatrician will be assigned to you at delivery. Paediatric fees can be claimed back through Medicare. Please check with your private fund if your baby is covered for Special Care Nursery admission.

Delivery Fees Uninsured Patients

Management of labour and delivery including caesarean section : Item number 16519 = $2500 with a rebate claimable from Medicare of $425.05

There would also be fees applicable for a hospital stay, anaesthetic services (if required) and paediatric services. Quotations for these can be arranged.
